Alison is a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC), as well as a Certified Clinical Supervisor (CCS) with the Canadian Counsellor and Psychotherapy Association. She holds a Master of Counselling degree from City University of Seattle, a Bachelor of Education from the University of Alberta, and a Bachelor of Arts from Concordia University College of Alberta. In addition to her clinical work, Alison is an Associate Professor in City University of Seattle’s Master of Education program, where she supervises and supports School Counselling practicum and internship students throughout their training.
Alison’s work is grounded in a deep respect for individual differences, neurodiversity, and the ways people adapt to their environments. She is particularly passionate about supporting neurodivergent individuals—including those with ADHD, autism, and overlapping experiences of anxiety, emotional intensity, and sensory sensitivity—as they make sense of their experiences, reduce burnout, and build more sustainable ways of living and relating.
Her approach is collaborative, practical, and compassionate. She works with clients navigating anxiety, depression, grief and loss, life transitions, identity development, emotional regulation, relationship challenges, and burnout. She is especially attentive to patterns of masking, overwhelm, perfectionism, and self-criticism that often emerge in neurodivergent experiences.
Alison draws from a range of evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution-Focused Therapy, and mindfulness-based practices. She integrates these approaches in a flexible, individualized way, focusing on what is genuinely useful and sustainable for each person rather than a one-size-fits-all model.
Clients often describe Alison’s style as grounded, calm, and collaborative. She aims to create a space where people feel understood without needing to mask or perform, and where they can reconnect with their strengths, values, and authentic ways of being.
Alison genuinely enjoys working with people across the lifespan and considers it a privilege to support clients in building lives that feel more regulated, meaningful, and aligned with who they are.
